Google Cloud Platform is now called Google Cloud

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) has a new name: Google Cloud. In addition, the mobile app that used to be called the Google Cloud Console app is being renamed the Google Cloud app. But what are the reasons for this? And what else is changing?

The reason for this step were requests from users for improvements, as Google announced in the blog post "Introducing a new homepage for Google Cloud". Functions were mentioned, which make it possible to call up recently used products faster and easier. Therefore, the developers designed a new homepage in Google Cloud.

Better user experience

According to Google, the new site features an optimized user experience to navigate to individually relevant goals. In addition, the user interface helps users stay organized and assists them in completing the tasks at hand. At the same time, the new homepage is faster in several ways, saving users time. It loads about 40 percent faster than the familiar dashboard and reduces the time needed to navigate. To further simplify the user experience and ensure consistency across Google products, GCP was renamed Google Cloud and the Google Cloud Console app became the Google Cloud App.
